Hey Bill
This is the story. I'm putting my bike away in the garage for the winter
and it is not heated. It could easely get to -30 or -40 here in Montreal.
Should I take any special precautions as to not harm my bike. I'm also
wondering if there is any lubricant I should shoot all over the bike so it
will not rust out on me.
when i store a car i always squirted some automatic transmission fluid in to the cylinders, to keep the rings from sticking. always worked good for me. you could do it by pulling the plugs and using a squirt can. either empty the tank or use some stayblill. when you crank it back up if the oil is low, dont add any, because i probally leaked down to the sump and if you add it will blow oil all over the place! good luck
They make a wd40 fog that you can fog the whole bike with.
Just dont get any on the seat and you should be fine.
Any good bike wash will remove it pretty easy in the spring.
Why you putting away so early. Are you canadian?
Ride till the roads get salt is what i say.
Sorry I missed this thread.
Sounds like some good tips here with the wd 40, I'd also make sure the tank is full with gas and add some sta-bil. Also run it a bit to get it through ths system. If it's carbed, drain the bowl with the brass screw that you'll see between the cylinders from the horn side at the bottom of the float bowl.Remove the battery or put it on a battery tender. A discharged battery will freeze. Don't know at -40 if it will freeze if it is charged or not. Maybe try to block it up off the floor if possible too. You can get a fogging spray from any marine or auto supply store and fog it out for the winter in those extremes.
You gotta love this site man. Thanks for all
the great replies. I will surely try and get that
fogger product. I'm also going to get a lift so
I can take it of the concrete. Hey David. Yeah
I am Canadian but the reason I'm putting her
away so soon is I hit a huge pot hole and dented
my front rim pretty bad. So I ordered a Vega style
front rim from RCcomponents and I'm only getting
it in a month from now. What a BITCH man.
Once again thanks to you all.
