Yeap, new fuel for sure, but I'm sure you did that. Second I'd pull the fuel line off the carb and make sure fuel lows freely. Then, and what I suspect is the problem, remove the carburetor and clean it out. It's likely that the jets are gummed up or trashed up. Since you're going that far, put a kit in it.. The new gas these days does awful things if it sits too long..

When you have the time I would change the fork fluid and seals, change out the brake fluid, rebuild the calipers, new brake pads, and new throttle cable and clutch cable, adjust the clutch and primary chain. Looks like sweet bike.

Great job with the cleanup. Curious, what did you use/do to get the bike looking that good again?

Congratulations! You did an excellent job cleaning that bad boy up. And a good score for 1200 bucks. $20 bucks for a 2 1/2 day riders course?, you are finding all the deals man!

Lovetoridefla I used steel wool for the rust but was very careful not to scratch up the Chrome. I used some chrome polish afterwards that I had in my garage. The seat I just used some leather wipes I bought at the store for $5. I just polished the paint with normal wax I had. I should mention after using the steel wool, I used an air compressor to blow off all the little pieces of steel that way I didn't scratch any of the paint when polishing. I am going to do another detail after I get this carburetor going and switch the petcock. It was approximately 50 bucks for the carburetor rebuild kit and new petcock at my local Harley store/dealership. I must say this after getting this bike. I've rode it around the block and that was it it's been in my garage where I've been tinkering with it to get it running really good again. In the last two weeks of me owning this bike I have had so many friendly conversations with bikers it's crazy. So many of the people I've talked to whether it's friends strangers or this formum have been so helpful and so friendly. I was in a hardware store the other day buying a screw for the bike and there was a guy with a Harley shirt that I thought he could help because I wasn't sure of the length of the screw. The guy dropped what he was doing and spent about 20-25 minutes helping me get what I need. Socially I kind of avoid people and really don't like people that much anymore. The last two weeks have really opened up my social circle, i've encountered some of the best people I've ever met, and I'm looking forward to learning this bike and meeting some really good people out there on the road.
