True duals work for me. It lowered the pipe on the right side so it was further away from the rider and distributed the heat to both sides of the bike instead of just the right side. But I still addef a Captain Itch crotch cooler and I am putting Mighty Mite fans on it too. 09 Heritage
I bought the Cycle Shack slip-on mufflers for my '14 from Dennis Kirk - but I just checked the site and they're no longer llisted. They do have other mfrs though...
I also have a HD SE air cleaner with an HD plain cover, and tuned with a Dynojet Power Vision 2 from Fuel Moto.
I tried the HD midframe air deflector - yes, reduces heat on your thighs, but removed it as I like the looks of the bike without it.
I've also added the HD oil cooler (mounts on the left frame downtube)
Most of the time, I'm wearing my full-lenght-zip leather overpants when riding...

The problem is the lean fuel mixture mandated by the EPA. Removing the cat. from the mufflers or changing mufflers fixes nothing except in your head. The computer will still adjust to the same air/fuel ratio. The cheapest way to richen the fuel mixture is with Nightrider circuit IED's. If you want to do more changes, you will need a true fuel management system like Fuel Moto etc. Just changing parts does nothing no mater what people say, you need to add more fuel to the mixture, fuel is what cools the cylinder. Parts are overridden by the computer to return to a air/fuel ratio of 14.7 to 1 by weight. This is what is called stoichiometric, or perfect burn, when all fuel is consumed in the cylinder, pollution is at it's lowest allowable amount. You will want something in the area of 13.8 to 14.1 to run cooler.....a tuner or EIED from Nightrider which is what I have used with great success.
Went riding today and the temp was about 86 F. When stopping for stoplights the right side of the Heritage was really hot (muy caliente!!). I found myself putting my right leg on the footboard to avoid the heat! Anyone changed the exhaust and had a significant reduction in the exhaust heat?? If so, what did you do? If you have a thermal sensor would you measure the temp and provide them? I can measure the stock system for comparison.
Thanks for your help!!!
They do run too hot for their own good, and for a lot of folks comfort.
Getting your feet out a bit with Floorboard Extensions will reduce the felt heat, and they are just more comfortable anyway, regardless of the heat.
Here is a LINK to a Report on different things you can do to reduce the heat.
