Default The Switch from Dyna to Softail?

I sold a '98 Dyna Convertible, but I'm considering buying a new Harley. I have been concentrating on the Low Rider, but maybe I should try another model like the Softail since I've already had a Dyna. Thank you.

Depends on which model I suppose. I have never owned a Dyna, but I imagine the ride and handling will be quite different. From cruiser (Breakout) to touring/cruiser (Heritage).

I made the switch in 2012. Went from dyna superglide to soft tail fatboy, and I've never looked back. Don't get me wrong, I loved my dyna, but I really love the fatboy. My .02

they've been having demo days at our local dealerships....go check em out. I've never had a dyna but did own a V rod an a Touring bike an 3 softails...the softails def feel light an nimble with the low center of gravity.

Why do you love your Fatboy more than your Dyna? Thanks.

1). Floorboards, very nice on long rides.
1a) lower to the ground, I can firmly place both feet on the ground.
2) "B" motor-balanced smoother idle at a stop sign
3). I personally like the look of the solid wheels and fatter tires.
4) More comfortable for me in general

What's good for me might not be good for you, however. I'd take one for a long test ride or rent one for a day.

My .02

I just switched back to a softail (crossbones) from an '03 low rider. I liked the nimbleness of the dyna, but I really missed my old crossbones, so that's why I went back. If I wasn't so obsessed with the springer front end, I probably would seriously look into the new low rider s. That's a great bike.

With that said, I would take the advice of others and test ride some bikes on the dealers demo days to see what you like.

I started my HD experience with a Heritage, then went to a Dyna. The Dyna is definitely more nimble in tight spaces. The 103 was a push for me too, as I thought that I needed more power for riding in the mountains where I live. When I picked up the Dyna and put more miles on it I quickly discovered that I screwed up. The Softail comfort was gone, and the ride was harsh and gritty. I started looking for ways to "turn" it into a Heritage. Check out my sig line to see the things I've done. For what it's worth I'm looking to just move back to a Heritage.

Yes, that about sums it up for me too. I really like the Low Rider but nothing compares to a Fat Boy **for me**. YMMV.
