Default Crooked handlebars?

2007 FB. After reading about some other bikes with crooked handlebars, I went out and checked mine. They're off quite a bit. The left side is further foward than the right. I loosened the riser bolts and tweeked the bar alittle and it helped some. however asI tightened everything down, I noticed the bars wanted to go back to the same position. I was able to tighten them in what seemed like a good location. After riding two days the bars have worked themselves right back where they were. Anyone else have this? How can I fix this?

Go with polyurethane riser bushings.

Cheers!

Mine were crooked when I took delivery; the mech's at the dealership tried to straighten them out, but no dice. The problem worked itself out when I replaced the bars.

Loosen the riser bolts plus the clamp bolts on top of the risers and get someone to hold the bars in theposition you want and tighten the riser bolts first. That should do the trick....

same thing on my 07 FatBoy, took it back to the dealer and they gave it a jerk and that somewhat straightened them out. somethingwith those rubber bushings is what causes it.

Gotta chime here..........I've noticed this on my 06 FXSTI as well but this is where I looked a little more closely at things. As I ride down the road and look just over the top of the tank halves, just so I can see the fork sliders I notice that the fork sliders are off as well, about the same amount as the bars are. Could this whole "my bars are crooked" thing be more along the lines of the whole damn fork assembly is off?
Need some of you guys that are having the same issue to do as I did and report back your own findings.
I agree that maybe new bushings might clear this up but is it really fixing the problem or merely masking the real problem?

I had the same problem with my stock bars. I had to loosen the bolts that hold the risers and re-align them. It helps to have a buddy hold the bars while you tighten them.

So I'm not seeing things. I noticed the bars on my 07 Custom seemed a bit off with the left side being further out than the right. It's hardely noticable, but if you look real close you can see it. I guess I'll had the dealer check it out on my 1K service.
