Well if they are that easy to move now, won't they vibrate loose? I thought MOCO put that hellish thread lock on to keep from vibrating out. Not sure what this copper stuff does, does it work like locktite? Will it keep them from vibrating out ?-- the bane of all Harleys

I think maybe after I stripped the first one....I would have been more careful after that.
Wish i thought of that [sm=confused06.gif]. I thought once I stripped one, I might as well strip them all.

Man I hear you, I think I've accumulated every possible torx bit and tool known to man over the past four years and you know what I STILL end up getting halfway into something and need to run to the auto parts store to get one I don't have.[:@]

I had the same problem removing my sideplates from the sissy bar. MOCO does like the thread locker. The cheapy torx wrenches are no match for that stuff.

You can buy an electric impact wrench...if you strip alot of torx or hex its a good investment.

Anything with thread locker gets heated a bit before I even try anything.

...... Yeah, not too good with the names.

Anyhow, I like the square ones, like the ones on my risers. Reason the star ones suck is because they aren't deep enough. The square ones have a lot more depth to them.

I stripped one when I first got the bike, what a nightmare, had to take it into a car garage and a guy got a drill out, went nuts on him more or less shouting......what the hell are you doing dude........ then felt like an idiot when he explained to me what he was doing. I appologized, but I wasn't letting anyone near the damn bike with a drill. lol.

Headwolf - Yes very good point I thought about that too BUT I have regularly checked these and so far they haven't loosened up at all. The "Copper Slip" is something we have here in the UK and I am sure you will also have it but under a different name- it is basically grease with copper particles mixed in with it that gives it a very high melting point. Typical uses would be on the back of brake pads so they dont seize up or anything that you dont want to corrode and seize. I was concerned that the bolts would rust in making them impossible to remove at a later time and I think this will work well. I though am the sort of person who likes tinkering with my bike so I always check all bolts as a routine, maybe this isn't the solution for those who prefer not to wrench and play around with their bike hence I guess it'swhy Harley puts on the thread locker.

Isn't that copper stuff really anti-seize compound? so parts won't sieze in there. Haven't had to try and remove any of the torx heads yet, but am not looking forward to it. Why couldn't they use regular bolts?

This is what I found out about the TORX Heads and Harleys...most TORX kits come with the standard sizes..10 15 20 25 30 35...BUT Harleys also use a size 27...yeah, I can not tell you how many of them I stripped until I found out there was size 27, the 25 fits in there, but it is a bit small and it will strip the bolt. Go Figure.
