Is there a secret trick to putting this Windshield on? I have a hell of a time with this thing. The windshield only sits about a couple millimeters above my headlight bucket and has subsequently scuffed the clear coat a bit as it's imossible to put it on without the shield inevitably touching the bucket at some point until it's secured. I've resorted to putting a microfiber cloth on the headlight bucket when taking the shield on and off. Beyond that, as mentioned, this thing does not just slide on. I have to push in the brackets on the windshield while trying to line it up on the fork slots then shove down as hard as I can. I rarely take it off anymore because of the trouble.
They can be tricky, the towel idea is a good one. I find that concentrating on getting the bottom slots lined up first by squeezing the shield together is the easiest way. Once the bottom is started, the top ones can be lined up individually if need be. A little spray of Windex helps on the really tough ones.
It sounds like your lower brackets might be too tight. Loosen the screws holding them in.
You should be able to lower the shield over and behind into the lower brackets without ever touching the headlight then just snap into the top brackets.

Thanks for the advice. I thought about spraying some sort of lubricant. I'll give that a shot.

I could try loosening them. I do find it odd that I have to pinch the windshield together to make it go on the lower bracket. I thought about putting some sort of spacer on the brackets like some washers or something simple as well.
Over the years I've found that old-school "bolt-on" is often quicker than "quick detach."
I would have to agree with you at this point! The idea of snap on and snap off sounds great in theory. I never see anyone have trouble with their Road King shield figured this would work the same.
