Does your's tick when you first start it or after it is hot?
What is the oil pressure reading when you hear the tick?
It ticks when the motor is hot. It's only under load and the tick gets louder and louder the more gas I give 'er. If I hold the throttle steady @ >2200 RPM, it goes away but then comes back as I ride.

I don't have a pressure gauge on the bike yet.
Could be something mechanical in the valve train. I don't know.
I have the Rocker Lockers, fan assisted oil cooler (Ultra Cool) and head fans (LG Mighty Might). Mine is quiet.
If you are considering changing oil. Here is some data that I compiled concerning oil and it's viscosity at various temperatures. It doesn't take into consideration shear, just what temperature does to it. The site that I used to calculate it is included in the sheet. You can calculate it for any oil you like. You just need the oil's spec sheet showing the cST at 40C and 100C.
I have read that the non ester based oils (mineral and type 3 synthetics) use more viscosity improvers (additives) and therefore are more susceptible to shear than the ester based synthetics. I don't know though.
You might as well taste test all your oil options, that will be equally effective in halting the rotation of your rocker shafts. Pair it with a nice cheese.
Does anyone here have any feedback on using Royal Purple (20W50) in their bike?
I'm using SYN3 but the tick it gives is driving me nuts! I heard that there are a bunch of different synthetics out there that mitigate that @#$%ing tick (AMS, Mobil1, etc...) but any feedback would help.
Just to let you know a little secret Royal Purple is made by bel-Ray .

Are you saying the Rocker lockers don't work? Just curious what you found wrong with them. Thanks.
