The strange thing about these symptoms is that they vary from bike to bike. I have had 5 Harley's in my time and all, but 1, had that issue. One was a Sportster (New), One a Night Train (New 96 ci), a Buell 1125R (sort of a Harley haha, New), a Breakout (New 103 ci) and my current bike an 06 Softail Standard with only 2k miles on it (Only 1k miles when I purchased, 88ci)
The 06 Standard makes 0 noise from the engine. The only thing I hear, vaguely, is the injector pulse every now and again if I listen very closely. Mobil 1 V-Twin will make is 5 times worse. Great oil, but will make it worse. Amsoil is great oil, Royal Purple is ok, I love the color.
I just changed mine to all Red Line and it is fantastic. It has never sounded better honestly. It runs extremely cool, is very quiet, and shifts smoothly.
The noise in the end, is like chasing a unicorn, just ride. You will never get rid of it fully, it is just a Harley.
I love oil threads, it's the reason why so many different oils OEM'ed by fewer yet, sell so much of their brand.
I think their are almost as many OIL commercials as Car commercials, or Viagra even...
It is an experiment every time. We all know as long as we change our oil and use a good filter (Oh no, another discussion) your motor will be fine.
Funny to read, like the entertaining portion of it....so thanks!
