Default Cable Sizes

I am getting ready to put some apes on my 07 Fat Boy. I am going to buy the bars and calbles and have an indy shop do the work. Can someone point me in the right direction as to what correct cable length I need. I am still deciding on how high a bar I am getting, but it is between 12", 12.5", 14" or 16".

Thanks for any suggestions.
Brent.

Everytime I do a bar swap, I have trouble w/ this as well. Seems that the MoCo can never get it right. They say that there are no charts out there to tell them this bike, with these bars require x length cable. My most recent swap wasthe beach bars onmy '07 Springer, and I must have tried 4-5 different length throttle and idle cablesbefore I foundthe ones that would work. Best thing to do is mount the bars, then measure the length you need. Take a tape measure to the MoCO, and don't leave till you got the right size.

I can do that, but I hope there is a better way to do it, as I want to show up with all the parts.

..first off decide which bars you are going to get..kinda tough to figure out cable length on unknown bar height..probably easiest to mount bars and take weedwacker line and measure cables..also you are going to need to extend wiring..either with an extension set or by taking wire and extending stock wires..this would be a good time to run wires internally also..maybe if you are lucky someone on here will have just done a set and could give you exact length for a particular set of bars.

Or figure out what you got on there now and how much you're adding and do the math. There's no reason why it can't be done right the first time.

Yes, that is the common sense answer. However...comma, most after market apes are wider, thus requiring extra length as well.

True. However, comma, you can get the dimensions off the manufacturer's website and include that in your mathematical equation.
