Default What year Fat boy 2005-2008?

Love my v rod, 112HP/100 TORQUE. My 04 Fat Boy was 115/115. I am going to buy used and install a 107 from Hals HD. Will be around 125/125.Are there any big differences except the gear ratio change in 07.
Thanks

Any year will do, make sure you find one that's in good mechanical condition for the power you're going to be making. You can do pulley swaps to get more top end or bottom end power, that's no big deal. Make sure you talk to Dustin at Hal's, he's the main Speed Shop builder and tuner.

Don't know about gearing, but I like

The pre 07 style fat boys better.

Thank you, I am already set up with Dustin at Hals. I read about the ratio change on I believe 2007 and up to change the pulley and that's great advice. I am thinking I need to be into a 6-speed with all the mods I'm doing sounds like that'll make everything about perfect. What year does the 6-speed start? What year was the gear ratio change was that 07?
I am going to stay under ten thousand miles and hope to find one around 7000. I bought my V-Rod with 7000 and it rides like a new bike.

Six speeds start in 07, unfortunately 07 they went to 66 tooth gearing, however that can easily be remedied, 07 also started the 200mm rear tire. 07s supposedly have weak cranks. 07 also started the 96 ci so to make a 107 just requires a simple cylinder bolt on.

Not sure if it's the same for the softail but touring 6 speed ratio is lot better from 09 and up.
