I can tell u from friends of mine that have previously owned sportsters n then drove my slim, they say it's completely different. For the better. They tell me the seat is wider n more comfortable, the slim is a very low riding bike and u feel as if ur "riding in it rather than on it", and given the difference in weight and suspension set ups between the two, it's a softer ride and better handling.

Now I dnt know myself cuz like I said this is the only bike I've had, but it sounds to me that there's no comparing one to the other. Night n day difference.

I went from a '15 Sportster Forty-Eight to a Slim. I loved the 48, but there is really no comparison: the Slim is hands down the superior bike.

It handles better, the suspension is better, it sounds better... The only thing I'll say is that I wish I could mount my Slim mirrors under the bars like they are on a 48, but to do it, you have to relocate the turn signals, and that's kind of a pain in the ***.

Awesome and good to know. I was also wondering about some luggage options as I like HD one (just one model but Viking ones looks good too) oh now I am just excited and hope to get this bike. I am thinking about going to dealer just to ease my mind and check how much brand new 2016 would cost.

What about stock braking power on this ride? I have to say my old sportster is lacking on this part but I hope there was some good progress on this front.

P.S. As far as upgrade I believe anything 2016 HD comparing to 1994 will be tremendous upgrade even with all that I did to this bike.

I've found the stock brakes to be just fine on the Slim. Better than the stock brakes on the 48, but I will say that my Slim has ABS, and my Sportster didn't.

I had a '13 Slim for a while. It's really limited on what you can add or change or do to it, the seat is a nightmare to sit on after about 30-60 minutes of riding and you will scrape the floor boards on turns (not that big of a deal though).. The big thing for me was the limited seat options (comfortable ones) and keep it as a one seat bike.

Personally i would hold off till next year and get yourself a 2017 for the same price as the m8 Breakout will lower prices of used bikes.

2017 model has better looking rims and they are keyless as well but the rims are really hard to clean .

OP,
I have a 14 slim as others have stated you learn the lean and floorboard placement quick really a non issue, the biggest issue is the stock seat, it down right is a pan in the xxx. I did the mean city cycles memory foam mod to the factory seat, and the captain itch crotch cooler, A factory Blackline seat also works for the slim, and is what I did initially prior to the Oem seat mod by mean city cycles. Accessories are not as plentiful for the slim as other bikes. But there is a lot of info on this forum from do it your sellfers
The slim handles great and is a fun ride.
Within a day or so we may see the 18s and if in fact there is a redesign and the M8 being offered for the softail line? I was all ready for a slim with the M8 but a hole in the water which you throw money has my attention now lol

I actually really like the stock Slim seat, but I wanted it in full leather. I had trouble finding anyone who could do it exactly the way I wanted it, so I ordered a custom Le Pera Bare Bones solo. I like it alot, but I think the stock seat looks better.

I hated the stock seat, I got a heritage seat with mine that's better but kinda tall. I ordered a Mustang day tripper an it's way better, I can go a few hours with it.

This bike is gone I lost it over $500 more Oh well. On the positive not I just got 2500 coupon from dealer but I rather wont use it unless they can put me on new bike 12k out the door but I doubt they will be willing to do it so I am back in square one but I still want to hear the comments and now I really want to see what will be in the store for 2018
