I think in the Harley's case it's more of a chiseled looking body muscle than a fast engine. Though the M8 in a sub 700 lb bike ought to run pretty quick too.
I am sorry but the previous fat boy was turned into a movie prop the day Arnold road it in Terminator and it is one of the reason I never wanted one cause everybody and their dogs back then had one around where I lived
that movie caused the bike to blow up in sales. But the bike still had that classy look. besides, do you think he would of looked better on a sporty or a softail standard. The character needed something big like him to be on.. but anyways, the new fatty looks like something that should be in a video game, like the bikes the PJD are making lately
From what I am hearing and seeing the Dragon is so crowded and has so many cops hanging out that any Harley or any bike for that matter can run it because you will for the most part just be going the speed limit which is 35 in most places. Plus I have also heard that some big rigs GPS' are taking them that route and completely clogging it up. Look at the youtube vids.
What happens everywhere when cool stuff gets publicized.
Used to go to Burning Man in the late 90's. Completely ruined now. Sturgis, same thing. All Sturgis is good for now is to get traffic off of other routes like the tail for a few days.
I have to agree with the OP! I'm really liking the new FatBoy Up to now I was always wondering what was so "fat" about it. Also love the Street Bob & Fat Bob-the rest...not so much.

It wasn't just that movie. Its a Classic to you right now because the Bike is almost 30 years old. Back when it first came out the Japanese bikes where taking over sales. Harley almost went under. Then came the Fatboy. Big Fat, modern at that time with solid Fat wheels like never seen before. A new big bad Soldier in the fight for American sales. And it not only won it dominated. made it into the movies and everyone wanted one! The Fatboy saved Harley Davidson and put them back on the map!
Now here it is the year 2017 and Harley once again is loosing sales and not doing good at all! Guess who they just called on to save the company once again?? The companies Hero The 2018 Harley Davidson Fatboy!

It did bring a lot of people back.
Harley had a pretty bad rep for leaving pools everywhere they were parked until then.
Harley also took the government help they giving out a few years back when the car companies were, and still couldn't make it. I believe in a fair wage like anyone else, but when the guy pushing the broom is making 18 an hour, there's a problem. Back in the day Owning a harley was a big deal, a status symbol, but then after the explosion in 2003 when you could find them all the time instead of having to be on a waiting list is when it took a turn for the worse. the average guy could afford one and they were selling more tee shirts than anything. It's still a lot about the clothes. Seriously, a 500 to 600 dollar leather jacket just cause the harley patch is on it..
I don't have a problem buying a solid $500 leather jacket that I'll wear for the next ten years. I'll spend over twice that for shoes in a decade. I've been burned a couple times on leather jackets (LL Bean.) I know the HD jacket will last. What I don't want is HD's branding obnoxiously stamped all over it.

The more they brand it the more it costs..mine. paid 180 for it 5 years ago
