2018 heritage question
Maybe thinking of going with a 2018 heritage. Took a test ride and loved it. This is the first one they got in and I noticed it has 80 miles on it guessing with all the test rides. Now they take you on a specified route with back roads and a short stint on the highway and always supervised. Think this would be detrimental to the engine for breaking in or really no big deal?
I was not worried about it. My bike had been ridden by the dealer tech, one of the salesmen and by one other older guy. I was confident none of them had run the hell out of it. From what you describe as far as test rides being supervised at your dealer, I would not be too concerned. Harley is fairly conservative about their break in period. I have always been a bit more aggressive and never had an issue.
I think my Fat Boy had something like 6 miles on it when I bought it. I'm sure that this represented several test rides. No probleme as my German friends used to say.
I have always been very careful to slavishly follow the manual's break-in procedures, FWIW. I cannot imagine a dealer allowing anyone doing a test ride to abuse a bike.

If you're worried about it, wait for another one. The bike is probably fine, but peace of mind is worth something.
I'd be surprised if you were able to negotiate a significant discount because of the possibility that someone abused it. It's worth a try, but right now, for a few months at least, it's a sellers market for the new models.
