It's nice and depending on the size of your wallet possibly worth it to have a color not everybody else has ($3k + install). I think if I was going to get a "custom" color and spend custom dollars I'd want a true 1-off that literally nobody else would have.
I was buying this Softail but it had a lot if extras that ran up cost, like chrome lowers and profile wheels. They had a superior blue that was the right price though, they swapped the tank and fenders from the two tone onto the blue at no cost to me, although I paid close to retail for it.
I checked it over close on delivery, no scratches or anything to indicate it had been apart. At the DMV they asked me what color it was and that's what went on title.
My advice is get the color you want, it makes all the difference.
