First, thanks for all the replies. To clarify, these are only slipons sold to me by the dealer when I purchased the bike. I would think they would have recommended a tuner if I needed one, but who knows. I will be taking the bike to them to have it checked out, that's for sure. But, also for clarification I meant to say that I do in fact like the decel burbles, but not the up shift pops. That is really my concern, and wanted to hear if it has happened to others with such a simple mod. Thanks again.
I had a stage one done by dealer with the download after they installed my Street Cannon slip on's. Still had decal popping. The FP-3 worked instantly. Better performance all around then Harleys download.
My bike makes a backfire noise when upshifting sometimes. It seems to have to do with the exact timing of pulling in the clutch, letting off the throttle and when I upshift. Im still experimenting to figure out exactly how to reproduce this but I think its just a matter of timing your shift with the clutch and throttle.

I put on the VH straight shots immediately after buying my new 17 Slim. I love the sound, especially at idle and the burbles on deceleration. However, it is popping (more like a backfire sound) quite badly on upshifts as I roll off and squeeze the clutch, especially 1-2 and 2-3 gear shifts. The dealer did not say anything about getting a tune when they sold me the pipes, so I'm assuming it is not necessary or that I'm doing anything bad for the engine. If it's just a personal preference for the sound, I'm fine with it. Can anyone confirm that it's not messing up the fueling or anything like that? Thanks.
Although I'm running a full system, I have an occasional pop between shifts when I rev it out in lower gears as well. It never pops on decel, just every now and then while up-shifting but I would describe it as a small pop not a backfire.
I am running a FM tune flashed and autotuned with a PV. The bike did it with the previous pipes I had on it, as well as with the stock headers and mufflers with the caps punched out and improved stock tune from FM.
Now with your situation, if it's a loud backfire between every shift of those gears, and you only swapped mufflers, I would take it in and ask them to check it out and resolve it. Hope you get it figured out.

Old thread, but yes - this is my issue. If I'm just putzing along I can time it correctly and it's fine. If I'm getting on it I must be squeezing the clutch just a touch before rolling the throttle all the way back which is making the pop. And the throttle has to go all the way back to zero to prevent the pop. Doesn't make for very quick shifting but whatever, I'm not drag racing.
