Hey guys, so I was finally able to install my new Energy One BTX-14 on my 03 Train that I ordered a little over a month ago as it was hard to make time as I recently has 3rd child. Well I’ve having a hard time adjustin it as it was engaging when the lever was about 90% of the way out if not more and I’ve readjusted it atleast 6 times and even had my buddy who works at local HD dealership adjust it with no luck, so I called EO amd spoke with Kent who advised me to check stack height and said it should be 1.845”-1.860” so I took it out and measured it and it is 1.790”. Could this cause it to not adjust correctly and if so, is there anything I can do to make it work like add a shim plate or something? I appreciate any help, thanks!
Yea you may need what is called a judder plate a steel disc extra at the base of the clutch plates .
I think that's what you're after, count your old set of fibre and steel plates and see if it's the same as the new ones it mathematically looks like you are short a plate .
Let us know .

My stock setup has less plates as the new kit is an Extra Plate kit and has 10 friction and 9 steels. They are supposed to be “ pre stacked measured “ for easy installation so I’m thinking that I might have gotten a defective kit
Not sure but add an extra steel plate to the stack and measure it one of the steel plates in the old stack might look different to the other steels I doubt it but yea add one tothe bottom of the stack and measure it ?
If the stack is within spec fit it and remember to bathe ya fibre plates first for a while .
Man how did you go ?
Your silence suggests you have had a win ?
I ended up having to send it back as it was too short and couldn't get it to adjust correctly. I asked the company whom I purchased it from to check the height of the replacement before they ship it to me and next day I received an email stating that I had been refunded as they said when they checked their other stacks, they were all suspect and would be sending them back. I couldn't believe that as I've heard a lot of good things about E1 but looks like a bad batch must have made its way through QC and out to consumers. I ended up purchasing an Alto Carbonite extra plate kit and got it for a great price and not to mention it comes with a lifetime warranty.
