OP, I got curious and checked my gas cap. While it doesn't have an o-ring, it does have a u-shaped rubber ring right next to the underside of the cap. I think this is why my gas cap doesn't rattle, might give it a try.

If you like the flush cap thats a definite fix but not necessary. I had the same on my Slim and it took a bit of time nailing down where the noise was coming from but once I found it was the fuel cap just as Skid pimp has written above, Its an easy free fix. Takes 10 minutes, A bit of care and walla..... silence.Screwdriver and hammer, A few good taps around the inside circumference [ maybe in 4 or 5 places ]. Once you have a look at the inside of the cap you'll know where to notch it.
