I know theirs a bunch of info on Softail shocks i've looked through a lot of it but...... I just bought an 08 Deluxe and havent been able to find info on how its lowered 1" from the factory? Are the shocks different or do they have spacers/kit on it? Also im looking at the LA Choppers springs that go into the stock shocks. I wasnt able to find much info on them either, anyone using them that can give me some feedback? I'll eventually go with Shotgun Shock but just bought the bike and dont have funds available since im doing wheels, bars, front springs ect........ Thanks for any input.
My wife's 03 Heritage has the factory "Profile" rear lowering shocks.
Drops it almost an inch in back.
It rides HORRIBLE!! Scrapes too easy too. Just riding normal.
I don't think the Deluxe comes with the lowering springs in the front.
Those are even worse. Bottoms out way too easy.
Unfortunately, stock height susp is the only way to go on these,
unless you own a kidney belt and hate riding thru turns.
Lowered looks way cool, but you sacrifice everything else.
the shock has a different part number from the fatboy shocks. the shock body could be the same but the shaft going to the swing arm could be longer to achieve the lowering, meaning the internal components are or could be the same. I'm swapping a set of progressives onto my bike soon. I already have them just haven't had time. I'm hoping for a smoother ride.

Yeah Im trying to actually figure out if standard shocks off another softail that isnt a Deluxe would raise my bike 1? And if I went that route I assume I could just install a lowering kit to get back down 1-2 and experiment with the ride a bit. Also I know the front doesnt come with lowering springs thats why Im doing the Progessives to lower the front.

That makes sense the shaft would be the difference. Just like the Ness lowering kit but not adjustable.....
Just contact Jessica at Shotgun Shock, she’ll explain whatever you want to know besides you can’t go wrong with the customer service, and guarantee, Shotgun Shock is offering.

Like I said in my original post, I cant afford the Shotgun Shock right now just bought the bike and have a bunch of other things to do but down the road.....Thats the reason I was asking about the LA Choppers springs. For $130 if they are a improvement over stock shocks it would seem like a good deal.
Did that mod to my 08 and it was good for a little while. The bike already sits lower than other Softails. The right shock is easy to pop out but the left will **** you off. Also, ensure you swap out your bushings and keep an eye on them. They torn mine up pretty well. Also, your going to feel the bumps a little more since the lowering kit takes some of the play out of the shock.
Best thing you can do is save up and swap it out to a Shotgun down the road. Feels like a caddy now.
