The bags shown below are Fat Boy bags. They are made specifically for this model. I believe they're on the smaller side so they don't touch the pipes. The stock pipes sit higher than the ones shown. I'm still on the fence, so for now the bags will remain on the bike. Things might change when the snow melts and I can ride again.

I have a swing arm bag that is pretty handy for day to day stuff.

For long trips, I have a detachable sissy bar w/ bag... a small bag or large bag depending on need.

I prefer the clean look without bags on a Fatboy, but when you need storage, you need it.

Agreed (except swingarm bag is too small for me). Here's a
pic of my Harley QD sissybar w/Aero-rack on my Slim.
And most of the time is not in-use...

Ditch the bags. (I don’t like bags or cases on bikes in general.)

Hmm, no, I'd go with a swingarm bag myself.

I would go without the bags. But if you go on a trip then I would add the bags. I added a Genz sissy bar to my bike so I can add bigger bags when needed.

What kind of riding do you do? I know in Wisconsin, the weather can vary widely in one day. I like to have different gloves and jackets, and that's one reason I ride a bagger.

If you only ride in nice weather, short trips, with an occasional long trip, ditch the bags, and get a sissy bar, bag combination.

I ride a metric sport tourer on long trips. It's faster and I don't worry when it's parked overnight at motels. I use my Fat Boy for day trips and commuting to work. I always carry rain gear and a tire repair kit.

Myself I need functionality of bags. So I bought a set smaller than my older bikes bags. If need be I can use a backpack on sissy bar. But I tend not to do day trips yet. But on a Heritage they just seem naturally great looking. I was thinking of a swing arm bag for it looking clean on my Fatboy but with costs it made more sense to go with leather over pvc for the price.

I decided to remove the bags. My plan is to add a luggage rack and a leather tool bag. I'll use the bag to carry my registration papers, tools and flat-fix kit. I'll post a pic when I complete the change.
