Hey everyone,
Newbie here... I'm Jackson good to be on here.
I have a 2003 Harley softail heritage 100th anniversary edition that is pedal white. I'm wanting to take off the wire wheels and find some black mag wheels off another Harley that will interchange with my year model. Can anyone help by letting me know what other Harley year models that the wheels will interchange?
Thanks in advance
Scudda called it....might have to paint or powder coat them black though. I have a fatboy front wheel I'm wanting to get rid of cheap if you're interested. it needs a good cleaning an paint.
if you don't mind doing some tweaking you could probably use dyna wheels or any harley wheel. I couldn't find a pic of my older softail I had that came with the 9 spoke wheels on it, I swapped a deuce on the rear then a 21 spoke on the front...here's a pic of the front before I swapped it:
2000-07 Softail have 3/4 inch front and rear axles except 2007 front is 25mm. All 2008 and up have 25mm front and rear axles except 2008-2011 FLSTSB front is 3/4 inch.
2000-03 Dyna have ž” front axle, 2004-07 Dyna have 1” front axle (except 2004-05 FXDWG), 2000-05 Dyna have 3/4” rear axle, 2006-07 Dyna have 1” rear axle. 2000-05 FXDWG have ž” front and rear axles, 2006-07 FXDWG have 1” front and rear axles. All Dyna have 25mm axles from 2008+.
jack....I'm considering a a 21" off ebay with 3/4" bearings since they are plentiful an cheap....swapping out the bearings is the only way I can think of...the 25 mm are narrower than the 3/4" bearings so the spacers will have to be changed.
So if I'm reading this right a 3/4 in. off an 04 fatboy rear will fit in the 25 mm bearing space on my 10 Heritage rear? But I will need to buy spacers and just swap or get new bearings.
you would need new bearings and wheel spacers...the 25 mm bearings are 15 mm wide an the 3/4 are 20 mm wide so your wheel spacers have to be 5 mm wider to make up the reduced bearing width.
