Default Security system siren install question.....

I have a siren for my Smart Security System that I want to install. Has anyone been able to install it without having to remove the rear tire. It looks like I can pop off the splash shield without having to remove the tire/wheel. I was just wondering id the ECU cover can be removed with the tire/wheel.

Thanks!

I'd just follow what the instructions say.

If you have a jack you don't need to take the rear wheel off. I did the install a few months ago. Its not gonna happen without some sort of jack.

Well I put the bike up on a jack and was not able to get the splash shield out to save my life! I was able to get it unhooked and move it around a little, just not able to remove it! With it unhooked there was no room to get my hands in there to install the siren.

Oh well I will have to figure out another way.

It might be easier just to wait until you need a new rear tire. Then you'll have unimpeded access to that area.

Just take the rear wheel off.
The first time I did it I was a little intimidated, but it turned out to not be that big of a deal.

Just follow the service manual.

Also, by learning to take the rear wheel off you'll save yourself some money when the tire needs to be replaced.

You don't need to remove the splash shield, just slide it down enough to get to the siren slot. Taking the rear tire off is a huge pain.

This is my plan.

I ended up pulling the rear tire and fitting the siren next to the ECM. It was much easier to get there with everything out the way.

I just finished the install on my 2018 Fat Bob 114. It was a long job — about 3 hours going slowly — getting the battery, battery tray and BCM out. The service manual is essential to get all of the steps right. But it all came together in the end.
