I'm vertically chalanged and therefore would like to lower my ride.
HD offers both rear and front lowering kits for the 2018 Heritage Classic.
I already use a Reach seat that gets me down and forward making reaching the foot controls much easier and I can flat foot one side or the other but not both.
The lowering kits are costly and only claim to drop about 1".
Wondering if this drop is noticeable and the benefit worth the cost.
I'm toying w/ the same idea to lower my Fat Bob a tad. I called Progressive suspension last year to talk about their upcoming developments and they told me they are working on the '18 Softail options. I'm personally going to wait a bit to see what comes out in the next few months. I'm 5'6" w/ a 30" inseam. Currently, I can flat foot on both sides with my HD Sundowner seat, but I feel like another .5"-.75" of drop would give me that extra comfort and confidence without taking too much away from performance.

Got you beat. I'm 5'-6" and shrinking with a 28" inseam.
The silver lining. Only the heritage and the FB have the taller shock, so you may find them in demand, and have quite a few offers from deluxe and slim owners looking to swap with you. They get increased travel, you get flat feet. Or flatter

I sat on a friends '17 Deluxe and I thought I was able to almost Flat foot in in my slip on boat shoes. When I visited the dealer, it was the Deluxe I was looking for, but they weren't available and would not be for some time. The Heritage was available and I liked the package I saw and decided not to wait for a Deluxe. Did not notice the difference in the show room and the sales person did not tell me it was taller than the Deluxe. He was about 6'-3" and probably didn't think it was an important bit of information.
So, If any '18 Deluxe or Slim owner in the Daytona Beach area of Florida might like to swap.....

Right there with you, I have a 30" inseam as well on a 2018 Fat Bob with the Sundowner.
While I can flat-foot it, it seems like just an extra half inch would make the difference between comfort and stretching.
Turns out the Fat Bob is the highest seat of all the 2018 Softails. Harley makes a lowering shock kit; I've thought about getting it but it's not high on my priority list. Might be something you want to look at though?

Just to clarify -- are you saying that some of the Softails are using different shocks? Because there's a good 2-inch seat height difference from the Fat Bob (27.7") down to the shorter bikes (Breakout, for example, is 25.6). I don't know how that different height is accomplished.
If one of the Softails out there is using the same shock as used in the Harley lowering kit, and wants to swap for a Fat Bob shock, I'd be up for that.
