yep, i also have 2" risers so i guess that makes them 16" reach. Too late now, i had 12" bars on there before and they were just right (i just didnt know it at the time) and there aint no way im going to switch back now with the pain that it was to install these in the first place! Im hoping i just get use to it.
Could be an idea to have a good long test on the M8 heritage. They seem to be Goldilocks bars. 16 on my king were to tall and tingly for my 6 1 frame, Feet forward arms out led to impact on the lower back, even if low level. The fatty and many others were too low. The new Heritage height and turn in...just right. Sit straight as an arrow, with a good rider triangle. Similar Chrome bars looking killer on your fatboy. The kidney or weightlifting belt mentioned above has also been mentioned to me by greybeards past with great result. As you have seen from my post, lower back care, posture, and seating have been a prime consideration for me and I have spent a considerable amount of $$ to get this right. The bars, thankfully, have been perfect through the exercise.

Thanks good info. Yes I plan to check bars on Heritage. The look like they might be about 8 or 9 inch bars. I expect they will be a bit too low but will check them out. Thanks
I just went out and sat on my bike again, i think the problem is #1 i have a bare bones seat on it which lowers me even more, and my posture is terrible. If i sit up straight in the seat like a normal person the handlebars come just slightly above my shoulders. If i put the stock FXSTC seat on there and sit up straight then my hands are at shoulder level. I think your thread just helped me to see my problem. i have such bad posture that if i sit upright it literally raises me up like 4 inches lol.

Glad to help. Yep if your hands are much above your shoulders you will probably experience some discomfort. The line about apes are they make you sit up straighter and naturally assume a better posture. At least that is what they say.
I'm not sure of your exact situation but I have 2006 deluxe. It has the 4", I think, pull back riser. I bought a 2006 heritage set of stock bars which are between 7 and 10" mini apes. I had to reduce my riser to 1" to stay with the stock cables but it made my life so much better. I went from using my Saddlemen backrest constantly to hardly ever using it. just me two cents.
Over the winter a put 10" minis on my slim. Haven't had a whole lot of ride time but I can say that I can go much further before experiencing lower back discomfort. With stock I was getting maybe 1.5 hours. It's atleast double that now. My hands r right around shoulder height maybe slightly lower.
But the biggest plus for me, I get to keep the stock saddle that is notoriously uncomfortable. I love the look so I really didn't wanna get rid of it. But with the new bars changing my position it's much more comfortable now. Btw, I'm 6' with a 32" inseam.
I was pretty comfortable on long rides on my Breakout with the stock bars and just 1-1/2" spacers, but over the winter I put 12" mini apes on with the 2" CVO risers. The little I have gotten to ride so far has proven to be even better and more comfortable than before, at 6' if I'm sitting up straight my hands are just about even with my heart. Well worth the money spent.
