My last oil chance (all three holes) cost me less than 50 bucks. (*does not include the cost of beer)

Some dealers offer pre-paid maintenance plans. Of course they're not free but you don't pay anything at the time of the service.
I had a dealer offer a prepaid maintenance plan, I think it was the first three services for $995 total.

I passed.

$300. Holy ****. Rule #1: if your gonna own a Harley get some mechanical training somewhere. You'll save a ton of $. Get a manual!! And Youtube any repair you plan on doing yourself. Don't watch one video and get busy. Watch several if available and use common sense on the best way to fix your own bike. Now this is just me but I bought a Scavenger Oil Change System. Son of a gun works great. Just like the video shows. Truth is you only drain the oil tank on a Softail. I don't care how hot you get the engine. Their's still about 30+ oz. of old oil left in the crankcase. So Jcrews005, live, learn and save $$.

As a side note to Uncle G and bone Doc, I really dig two-tone paint on a Heritage.

Most Harley dealers will sell you a lifetime maintenance warranty. The original owner of my bike had it. It was strictly an in-house thing and did not transfer like Harley's warranty.

...and don't expect them to actually change the oil.
