I am in the Philippines so we do not have such a large inventory of bikes and what we have are expensive. Anyway, someone won a 2018 Heritage from one of the casinos and is selling it for what would be a steal locally. Has only 20km on it. I will likely buy it. However, its pretty much sight unseen.
I currently ride a 2008 Dyna with a 107" motor and a 1994 Yamaha VMAX. I rented a Heritage in California sometime ago, but much different bike. Wasnt impressed with the acceleration.
I read good things about the Heritage. I know I give up cornering and its bigger heavier than the Dyna. I will keep it stock til warranty is over.
Any issues I should be aware of? Does it run very hot with a 114"? I ride in a hot and bad traffic area. How is it for lane splitting?
Sorry bunch of question that are probably irrelevant since am 99% sure will be buying the bike.
DonN,
The 2018 Softail Heritage is 33 lbs lighter than previous years. The 725 lb wet weight of the new Heritage is very close to the wet weight of my 2015 Dyna Switchback at 718 lbs. Due to the low weight distribution of the new Heritage. It actually handles better than my Switchback. The handlebar may be a bit wide for lane splitting. Hope this helps my friend.
Cheers
Couldn't imagine riding in the PI. Im guessing the infrastructure is a lot better now. You will be surprised how different the new softails are. You might think "What Dyna" after riding it.
Yes, just picked it up and rode home. Much smoother running bike. Handles well. I do miss the grunt of my Dyna and do need better sounding pipes.
I get conflicting info on whether Cats are in the headers or in the muffler section? I prefer to only change to slip ons while I have the warranty. Any recommendations before I browse the million page Heritage thread?

Not many people will own both v max and a heritage...no wonder you are not impressed by acceleration !
I too am a v max and 18 heritage owner. I applaud your cult taste. Well done sir !

Cats in muffler's, best to check with your local dealer to see which slipons are ok with warranty. Not all are in the states.
Thanks on info on the cats. Should sound much better just replacing the muffs. I figure as long as I stick with slip ons, will put the stock back on whenever work needs to be done at the dealer. Bike only has a 2 yr warranty in the Philippines, and prev owner had it for 6 months without riding it so wont be long before warranty expires in any case.
I will likely go with the Rhineharts in black. So the heat shields will stay chrome for now.
