Default I need help figuring out riser choices

I'm looking at putting on some risers or maybe reach type bars on my 2018 Fatboy.

The choices are confusing as well as the comments that some put in regarding the riser not being the same width as the stock riser width, so it doesn't cover the hole very well.

Other concerns are how much, what will work with existing cables, and maybe a little discussion about bar height.

Here is a picture of my choices on HD's store:

Thanks in advance.

The curved pull back risers in the center "square" are supposed to work without any cable or brake line issues. I keep waffling back and forth as to weather or not to put risers on my 18 Fat Boy. If you go with those risers, please post pics.

I have been looking at those also.

I have found a good chart showing the stock risers and the ones for purchase with their height and pullback.

Here is a picture. I highlighted my fatboy and possible choices. I did see there is a shorter one ( 4 inches ) like the one you mentioned. It isn't on harley's store, but I found it elsewhere. That might be just fine.

How sure are you on the "no cable extensions"?

Because I get confused so easily, I added some info to my pictures from the chart. The top left two images were for risers not included in my chart, so I don't know the specs and they don't tell you in the online store.

Also, the ones with the X through them are for 1" bars. If I'm not mistaken, the FatBoy bars are 1.25"

PS. Just read that the top two left choices are to allow 1.25" bars to fit on bikes with a 1" bar already on them. So, no rise for me.

It's not that difficult. Figure out what you're trying to accomplish with new risers, pick a set you like making sure they fit 1" bars if that's what you have and buy them. If they don't "cover the holes" exactly (?) then get two nice chrome washers, place one under each riser shiny side up and bang yer done.

I started looking at riser extensions last night. My friend has a machine shop in his basement and he said he could make me some. So, I had to take mine apart to see how it was constructed. Here is a picture of the bottom of the riser and the stud that goes through the triple tree.

You all probably know this, but I wasn't sure. Posting this for future use by anyone who wants to know.

Were it me I wouldn't mess with riser extensions. I'd get taller ones if that's the goal. Don't half-*** it. The stress and pressure placed on handlebars and risers is a lot more than you'd think.

Hey Man,

I think you are probably right about the extensions.

When I put the bars back together after making pictures today, I figured out that I could lower them a bit and managed to get them as far back as possible. I thought that they were already there, but I was wrong.

After going for a ride, I saw that I had to adjust my mirrors quite a bit, showing me that I had indeed make a good change.

I adjusted, rode about 30 miles and concluded that it was WAY better for me. I was able to relax into the seat, loosen my death grip on the bars.

So, I'm pretty happy with it now. If I do make a change, then it might be the 4" pullbacks or who know, maybe 12" apes or a reach handle bar. We'll see.

Thanks to all who helped with this. I appreciate it.
