Thinking of changing up the exhaust on my new to me 09 FXSTC, and throughout the pics section I see a lot of BSS, and came across one of the Straight Shots. I don't know what is currently on my bike, I did not have any records form previous owner. So, I thought I'd put up a poll. Below are pics of my current setup, the staggered, and straight. I borrowed the pics from the pics section, so please don't sue me.

I run the BSS and absolutely love them. Great sound, and great look. A cruiser is made to have staggered pipes IMO. The BBS exit closer to your riding position so you get to enjoy more of the sound and stay better in tune with what your bike is doing.
A friend of mine who knows some tuning stuff insists the less bends in the pipes, the better. By that account the straight shots would offer the better performance of the two (the pipes on the green bike). On the other hand I hear the same is said of 2 into 1's. I ran the pro pipe on my Fat Boy and while the look was right the sound wasn't where I would have preferred it, and I couldn't tell much difference in performance.
I actually like the look of the exhaust you have now.... it's the classic Harley looking exhaust. A dual exhaust that slightly bulges at the muffler... but sound and performance are just as important... not knowing what you have I can't speak to the sound or performance
I have a pair of V&H Big Shots. I originally bought them for my '03 Heritage, and just moved them over to my '01 Springer. They are a good exhaust, sound very aggressive, and they still look good even though I bought them in '03.... most importantly, they have what they call a "power chamber" that allows the pipes to equalize pressure like a 2 into 1 pipe. They have really performed well, on both my '03, big bore (95ci), FI, Heritage and now on my '01 , OEM 88ci, carb, Springer....
I have toyed with the idea of getting a set of the straight shots for my Springer, just because I like the dual look..... but these big shots are still running well, and looking good... just can't kick them to the curb..
I had the Big Shots straights for a few years, then went with the Propipe. A couple of years ago I installed a set of BSS.
Too me they look like they belong on the bike, and I like the sound.
Straights making a comeback. Like Clammy, I'm a bit preferential to the offset look. Not a lot of them around, as well. Once thing is for sure, the V&H look a lot fatter at the head pipes than my current ones. I'm going to get under there to see if there's the Harley wording that I've seen on other slip on's.
