Default 2018 Fatboy

I was just doing some work putting on some parts on the wife/s 2018 Fatboy and I noticed that the battery looks to be really buried under the shock etc. I haven't looked into it yet but it sure looks like a bitch to get out.

Thanks...Scott

Not only that but according to some on the forum that whole area gets cover in crap from the back wheel, some have made covers to stop it happening, great engineering.

Default Battery area

It is a bitch to get out. I took mine out today. It's doable but it's a pain. The plastic battery cover has three places to undo. A clip at the bottom and to plastic tabs. One tab is easy to get to, the other one isn't. Just take your time and it'll come out. You need to access the cable connections from under the seat. Anyway, it was a pain but I needed to charge the battery. I couldn't use the battery tender plug as I don't have one.

My 2018 Deluxe came from the factory with a tender plug tucked under the left side cover near the fuses. But maybe you don't have the adapter yet for your charger. You could stick a small nail or screw into the insulated connection on the tender plug and attach your B+ clip, then ground the charger's B- clip safely away at another metal location. That battery power is also available at the starter main connection but I haven't looked to see if it's exposed on the 2018's.

I think my last statement was confusing. I meant I didn't have the other plug for the tender. I do have the port. Good news is the battery is staying up. I'm not sure what caused it to drain.
