Yes I have a 16 slim, I’m aware that this thread is about the new model. I have not looked closely under the new rear fender, so I didn’t say it would 100% work. I thought maybe since there is an international model plate holder that mounts under the fender for the new model, that the bracket may exist. If it doesn’t, than yes you are correct my mod will not work.

yea I went out and looked at mine after I noticed your bike was not an 18... Just bare fender.

Like I said, didnt want people to get confused because I have read through threads before and seen cool stuff and was like "dang, I want to do that" only to find out it didnt pertain to the model in question.

The rear mount plate kit I ordered from Harley is for the pre-17 bikes... part of it is that metal sub assembly your fender already has. I have no clue if this will fit because I believe the 18+ fender is around 1" longer than the pre-17 fenders... The part numbers on the fender is different as well as the part number for the fender support struts. Also the luggage racks(like the motherwell) for the 18+ is a 7" and the older bikes is a 6". SO, I dont know where that extra 1" is, if the mounting holes for the strut are to far apart, etc... I will see once I get this kit next week.

No I definitely don’t want to confuse anyone and get there hopes up. I’m curious now of the new fender design compared to my model, might have to go to the dealer and check them out closer. Hope it works out for you, keep us updated.

Thanks...

I dont think the fender has REALLY changed much, just maybe 1" longer. I will see next week when I go to install this kit if I can make it work or not. If not, I will sell the kit on here and try to get my money back out of it and I will try something else.

The H-D part number appears to be 67900316 - this is the center-mount license plate holder only, and not a relocation kit. Retail price in UK is Ł30.09 + VAT.

Thanks I will keep that in mind if this 2017 kit doesnt work out.

None of the sites have pictures of it so I am unsure what exactly it is.

The plate light is easy, its the bracketry that is the harder part.

Thanks...

It LOOKS to be all the same parts I am getting in the kit for the Pre-17 bikes BUT the dimensions are where we will see if things fit or if I can modify them to fit if they dont.

The pre-17 license plate kit WILL NOT work on the 18+ slims...

The bracketry is not right and it just wont fit right. While I could PROBABLY make it fit OK and physically work, it would always bug me that it wasnt right. The only way I have figured out to mount it would be at an awkward angle and it takes up to much space under neath the fender for my comfort with the suspension travel this bike has.

Im thinking I will just get a sideways swing arm mount plate mount and be done with it.

ETA: I just ordered one from Accufast2d via ebay. Our bikes have the inset axle mount on the swing arm. A LOT of the axle mount plate holders will not work. This company makes one specific to the inset swing arm axle mount. I will update again when I receive it later this week.

OK here will be my personal last update to this thread.

I ordered a curved, axle mount, plate holder from a vendor on ebay called Accufast2d. This has an offset mounting arm in order to fit into the recessed swingarm on our bikes. It was listed as a Breakout/Blackline plate mount with the 1" axle opening.

Got it today. The craftsmanship is excellent, powder coat is great, fitment was excellent. All around excellent product.

I also ordered some LED plate bolts from Amazon and will install those once my permanent plate comes in.

I had to remove the axle and flip it around. The nut/washer was on the right(passenger) side and the axle inserted from the left(drivers) side. I flipped it as I needed the nut/washer side on the left(drivers) side in order to remove the washer and put the plate mount in its place. I read up on if this was an issue or not and found that on my 17 Heritage(and most other older bikes) the axle was opposite how ours come from the factory to begin with. The only reasoning I gathered for the change was in the ease of servicing the bike, if you needed to pull the axle out, the exhaust wasnt in the way. I will be putting a V&H Short Shot exhaust on anyway so I wasnt concerned about this. Took me maybe 30 minutes all said and done to get it done. I have a motorcycle jack though which helped.
