So I'm a proud owner of a 2013 Fat Boy Lo 110th Anniversary with only 5000 miles on it. A few weeks back a good friend called me to take care of his 2014 Street Glide with only 500 miles. After riding that SG for couple of hundred miles, decided that SG is a better fit for me so went ahead and pay a visit to the stealer. Boomm, tested a 2018 Street Glide Special, and here we go....let me see those numbers. What a surprise !!!! ??. So the Fat Boy is my first HD coming from a 2004 Honda VTX 1300, at the time of the trade in the stealer offer me $4300 for my almost 10 yrs old Honda which I took and jump on the Fat Boy. So the offer was $6000 for my FB. I look at the sales guy who ended been the sales manager and said... Are you out of you mind???? with a few other words You guys gave me 4300 for a 10 yrs Honda and now only $6000 for a 5 yrs Anniversary Edition FB???? And showed to him about only 3 found online for sales all 3 for over $12000 with over 10000 miles each. He didn't have a word and I walk away. Are you telling me that a Honda hold more value than a HD???
I know you get screwed on trade-ins but that's insultingly low. Not sure how the dealers are in your neck of the woods but a few by me were offering full KBB value on trades if you bought a new 2018.
Just because 3 people online are asking 12k for a bike doesn't make it worth thst much...now find 3 that actually sold for that much them you have something...i can ask for 20k for my bike doesn't mean it's worth it and certainly doesn't mean someone will pay it. The dealer is there to make as money on both bikes and you did the right thing by walking when you didnt like the deal. How many threads are on here with a guy complaining that the dealer screwed him??? No you screwed yourself by signing on the line. Keep hunting there are deals out there.
Two of them were sold for over 11k and the 3rd still for 12.5K. According KBB the value is around 9k. Still SMH why 6K even I was willing to pay cash the remaining balance.
In their heads , I believe they justify getting you off a Honda and on a Harley, Dealers around me have secondary motorsports shops where they will sell trade ins.
I'm betting it looks good on their books.

Well put !!!!! No one holds a gun to our heads, right?
Oh and . . . Initial here acknowledging that you have no idea what you just signed
Thing to keep in mind is the KBB book is useless in a dealership. All dealers and insurance companies use the Galves book which is the industry standard for all vehicles. KBB is a consumer tool, not a commercial tool..

Last time I was in a dealer looking to buy a used bike, they were using NADA....but they were actually using a paper book...if that gives you any idea to how long ago it was...
