My first post on here so be gentle yes😂😂. I think its battery related but tonight my Softail 1584 Custom decided not to start after a short 8 mile jaunt. New battery fitted 8 weeks ago but not had a dry charge yet, only whilst riding and not a lot of regular runs due to a Foot injury recently. I parked after the short ride to pick up my Grl and she
Wouldnt start as if very low battery, hot engine, everything else worked but Starter trying then clicking and Brrrrr. I managed to Bump start first time and we Rode 30 miles to charge battery. On return journey (having not stopped engine) engine management light came on and Speedo stopped working, Tachometer also stuck at 38.0!!
when I got home 30 miles later, ECU light still on, tick over higher but she had ridden perfectly. Switched off, left it 10 seconds and fired her up. ECU light stayed off and tick over was back to normal. Quick blast up road and Speedo working also😱😱😱
Could all this have been caused by the battery and none start issue earlier!!
cheers
Si

Since you recently got a new battery I would check / retighten the battery cables. Loose cables can cause weird symptoms.
You can also check if the bike has thrown one of or more diagnostic codes.
For the codes just do a search on the forum. Lots of posts on how to do it.
Thanks for reply 👍🏻I will check, but no error showed in LCD Display. Cables appear tight. Im really thinking battery charge TBH as its obviously not had real chance to get a long good charge. Optimate lead on order so hopefully fitted this weekend. That will give it a deserved top up and conditioning. As I said, all rode fine apart from increased tick over and that could be due to CO2 sensors getting confused after bump starting maybe, hence they reset and everything appeared fine after I switched off and on again.
