I assuming it rides pretty much like a Heritage. How different can it be? Bags are different and there is the small fairing as opposed to a windshield.
Same suspension from what I read, but the layout is a lot different. Floorboards, mini apes, different tires, and the big seat on the heritage are going to make a big difference in how the bike feels compared to the sport glide.
We completely sold out of all the Fat Bob's we got in. Total of five, if memory serves.
And no, a P&A bike isn't an indicator of which bikes aren't selling well. We do P&A bikes all the time, and they always sell for their price tag.
Things are indeed changing...but it isn't the doom and gloom some here constantly insist is happening...
114s or 107s?
The guys on the floor of my local dealership were explicit that they did it to three 107 FXFBs to try and catch them up to the 114s, and four months later they're still on supply.
The first one we got in was over winter time. Lasted a couple weeks on the floor. The others sold immediately..
That's what I noticed in my area. There are a couple black ones that have sat around awhile, but the red ones go just about as fast as the dealers put them on the floor. I'm guessing they're probably not being bought by the typical HD crowd. It's just a good standard package without any big wheels, rakes, or funny handlebars that stand out in the bar parking lot, but ruin the ride.
If you haven't seen one of the new bikes in Fortune Silver yet, you should before you put money down on one unseen. I bought a new Fat Boy last night and saw one of their baggers (not sure of the model), in that color and it was over the top. Cool color but it was, to me, somewhat gaudy. My tastes are my own and YMMV but you should see it before you choose it just to make sure. You WILL be noticed!
I think I've convinced myself to make the 7 hour drive. Hopefully all 3 colors will still be there by next weekend. The only downside is that I'll have no negotiating leverage left on price. 7 hours away with a trailer in tow I'm pretty sure they will know I'm not leaving without a bike, lol
I just bought a Sport Glide yesterday... very nice bike but since I have less than 100 miles on it I can't speak on it much.. My reasons for buying were my own. I had a Breakout for a while and it was really nice... my style of riding... but the wife was uncomfortable on it... traded for a Road Glide Ultra for the ride and comfort for her. I never really was comfortable on it at low speed.. I'm not as young and strong as I once was and it was almost 1000 lbs..... so I traded the RG Ultra for the Sport Glide yesterday... 225 lbs LESS of dead weight at low speed makes a whole lot of difference for me. So far I love it... no big plans for upgrades... sissy bar and maybe the 5.5 in windshield and possibly exhaust and Stage 1 stuff in the future. It rides a lot like the Breakout but a little more nimble and easier to corner.
he red bike in the background is the RGU I traded in..

Nice. Most of the riding I'm planning will be short rides following my 25 year old daughter around on back roads on her Sportster Iron 883 and the occasional full day ride. Been riding in the woods on off-road bikes with her and my son since she was 15. I was considering a Street Glide but my open highway riding is going to be very limited and as you mentioned, the added dead weight is something I would also prefer to avoid. Although I plan on riding solo 98% of the time, I will most likely upgrade the seat to provide the wife better comfort. I think one of the first things I'm going to do is paint those saddle bags. I saw a picture of one where the owner did and I thought it looked great.
