Default 2018 Sport Glide Sales

Brand new to the forum and in the market for my first Harley. I've test ridden all the soft tails with the exception of the Sport Glide primarily due to the fact that there are none available at any dealer within 4 1/2 hours from me. Really like the look and versatility of the new Sport Glide. My local dealer is unwilling to bring one in unless I drop a $1K deposit which I'm reluctant to do for two reasons; I haven't ridden one yet and I can't decide between black and silver fortune.

Anyhow, the fact that the dealer is saying the reason he is not willing to bring one in for me without a down payment due to the one they did have taking 8 months for them to sell is making me wonder if I missing something on this bike.

Opinions/knowledge of current sales volumes on the newest Sport Glide? Would you buy without riding?

Thanks in advance

P.S. - They brought in an 883 4 weeks for my daughter without anything down and no agreed sales price. And yes, she bought.

Welcome,

They won't bring it in without a deposit because they would sit on it an eternity The ugliest model of Harley ever produced. Think about the resale value before you buy. If they can't sell them that tells you something.

I like the look of them, the bags are much larger then they look. If the bags matched the color of the bike that would put it over the top. If I was in the market for a new bike right now, this is the one I would want.

The first one we got in was over winter time. Lasted a couple weeks on the floor. The others sold immediately.

Ugliest Harley ever?

That's subjective.

And subjectivity is like ********.

The Sport Glide is a terrific motorcycle for someone not wanting a Touring bike.

If you want to know which bikes aren't selling well, look at which ones the dealers are offering custom/accessoriezed or whatever. For example, I assume dealers are taking a beating on 107 Fat Bobs because I see so many that have been outfitted with different enticements on the floor at different dealerships, which makes sense: the 114 is within spitting distance and who doesn't want more cubes? I wouldn't be surprised if HD stopped offering the Fat Bob in the 107 or kept supply very low.

I probably would have bought on if it was available when I bought my Slim. It wasn't out yet. I think the Lowrider has the lowest sales numbers of the Softails but I may be wrong and probably am.

I assuming it rides pretty much like a Heritage. How different can it be? Bags are different and there is the small fairing as opposed to a windshield.

I wouldnt throw down a deposit before i had a chance to check the bike out in person. Too much money to get stuck with a bike that might not be what I expected.

That said, as a former super glide owner this bike has that old fxdxt vibe to it that i really like.

We completely sold out of all the Fat Bob's we got in. Total of five, if memory serves.

And no, a P&A bike isn't an indicator of which bikes aren't selling well. We do P&A bikes all the time, and they always sell for their price tag.

Things are indeed changing...but it isn't the doom and gloom some here constantly insist is happening...

I would ride it first. When i checked one out the front end was kinda disappointing. Its only a single disk, on a "sport" glide? And this is the only bike with sport in its name with no compression or rebound dampening adjustment to the inverted front. For 18k... its probably the best looking softail right now when stripped of the little bat wing and bags. But if you want to improve the way the front end responds its not as cheap as say improving a conventional style front end. As far as i know dual disk kits dont exist for it yet either.
