MY 06 FLSTC JUST STARTED DOING THIS ALSO. ONLY AFTER 11,500 MILES. NOT TOO BAD I GUESS.

I went thru a hell of a rain on Jult 4th and today i took it for a spin and sure enough sticky shifting. I will check this procedure out in the morning thanx!

Mine was sticking a few days ago, and I thought oh my, it's the spring. Major tear down for a $2.00 part. I did what TraumaKing did, except once I sanded the shaft smooth I applied a little anti-seize to it, returns as it should now, and hopefully no more problems. The shaft that slides thru the sleeve was really gummed up, once I took the front linkage off I could hardly move the shifter. Actually had to hit the end with a mallet several times to free it up to slide it out. A little emory cloth worked good for me, then a little anti-seize compound did the trick. This seems to be a very common problem esp if you wash the bike a lot or in the rain a lot.
