Citi,
are you not mistaking the Ven. owned oil company to be Citgo instead of Chevron
Your absolutly right, I screwed up big time getting the names confused like that.
To Chevron and anyone who works for them I humbly appologize.
Citgo and Chevez can still take a long walk off a short pier for all I care.
Now I'm begining to wonder who it is that really does make the HD oil products.
In any event I'm going tostick with the synthetics, Mobil 1 and or Amsoil for my bike.
It runs a lot cooler on the synthetics than it does on standarddino oil.
Ya won't believe but frankly I don't care but it's good information. I used to change my oil and when I pulled the plug I would see thees little slivers on the plug Magnet. Then a buddy told me if I put a 1/2 quart of Lucas oil stabilizer in when I change my oil I wouldn't have anymore slivers. I didn't believe him but tried it anyway. When I went to change the oil after that I even took a Kleenx out to wipe the slivers off the plug so I could shove them up his A** ! Man did I get a surprize. NO SLIVERS! I couldn't believ it. I'm a believer now. I put a 1/2 quart of Lucas Stabilizer in at ever oil change and I havent seen a sliver since.
Believe it or not I don't care.
Slivers are not a good thing. Lucas oil stabilizer inuces foaming which is not good either. If your oil needs additives, it's time to find another oil. The motor oils today (most of them) are light years better than they were 10-20 years ago. I've been running Mobilev-twin and have had no issues. I'm using right now on a fresh top end rebuild and all is good. I've also run the spectro 20w50 syn and it's prettygood also. All the tests I've seen rate the Mobile 1 in the top 3. The best part is it can be had at almost any Auto Zone for $8.89 a quart.
I'll bet if you magnify your magnet on the end of your drain plug you'll see slivers. Plus I have never seen any signs of foaming. To each his own but any engine will produce what I call slivers. You might have another name for them. I just know Lucas reduced mine considerably. But don't tell me you don't have slivers. There isn't an engine that runs that doesn't have wear!
I just found 2 cases of Mobil 1 V-Twin at Advance Auto for $7.98 per quart. Thought that was a pretty good deal! Checked Autozone first but they didn't carry it.
