Did my required search and found nothin so here goes.....
Im adding a riser extension to my bars from DK customs and consulting the HD service manual. No section on riser removal that I could find. I know where the bolts are. Im just trying to figure out how much of the chrome headlight cover and fangs and windshield mount I have to remove to get to them with a socket. Tried from the back and cant do it.....
Also wondering if I should replace the stock riser bushings while Im at it....
On my Slim, I had to take off the auxilliary (road king style) lights, and remove the rear fork trim. I didn't remove the headlight, or the trim behind the headlight that wraps around the front of the forks.
On mine: Raise the bike so you can freely turn the front wheel left/right. Remove 2 bolts on each side of the forks, securing the front and rear trim pieces to the upper forks. Remove the rear trim piece on each side. Turn the wheel to the left, which should give you enough clearance between the tank and the forks to access the right riser bolt. Then turn the wheel to the right, which should give you enough clearance between the tank and the forks to access the right riser bolt.
I could be way off base here in that the heritage is more prohibitive to getting behind the forks to get to the riser bolts. Hopefully this helps.

thanks for for any advice and directions......
When I did the wifes I dropped the light bar and then just removed the single bolt that mounts the light. this allowed for the front cover plates to be places out of the way. you will have plenty of room to get the socket and the torch wrench in when replacing. depending on how much your doing I also had to replace the upper front brake line. I installed the stock deluxe risers with her Heritage bars. that gave 2.5" up and 1" back
Once I started, I realized the back piece of the shroud (where the passing lamp switch on the left and the other like one on the right) are separate pieces and once the passing lamp mounts were loose, I could slip them off without disassembling anything else!
