FLSTN Locking Rigid Saddlebags Mounting System
Enlighten me please! What 4th grade educated engineer came up with the mounting system designed for the 2005 to 2017 FLSTN Softail Deluxe locking rigid saddlebags? What a pain in the **** to maneuver around. I have the quick detach mounting hardware for the detachable backrest. If I want to do anything that involves removing the saddlebags(wash or detail the cycle; change a tire; remove the mufflers; change brake pads, et. al.) I have to remove the bags. You gotta get down on your back to loosen the hex bolts(right side) and the torx bolts(left side) first. Then you have to take your 9/16 rachet and remove the two fender bolts that hold the bags to the fender, all the time performing a delicate balancing act holding the bags in one hand while removing the fender bolts w/docking hardware with the other hand. Watch out!!! You're gonna drop the bolts, docking hardware and washers somewhere on the floor where they will be found days later! I gotta think there is a better way spend half an hour than to wrestle with that debacle!
