Im sure this may have been covered countless times but here goes:
Two weeks ago I purchased a great bar hopper. I was able to pick up a 2004 CVO Deuce with 15500 miles. The only thing Im really concerned about are the cam tensioners. Since this is a bar hopper and not my main, I should be able to get by with changing them out with the same spring loaded tensioners or should I buy the screaming eagle cam plate oil pump and hydraulic tensioners? Please note, Im not going to do anything until I open up the cam chest and inspect whats in there first. The tensioners in there may have 10 to 15000 miles left on them. My main ride is a 17 Ultra Limited and my wife has already told me theres no way shes riding on the Deuce, so...... Ok, guys, your feedback is really appreciated.
Congratulations on the new (to you) bike! I was thinking the exact same thing when I picked up my 2006 Deuce (see picture in signature line). Mine was in pretty bad shape when I got it, but I have slowly been bringing it back to life. I don't know much about the cam tensioners issue, but have read it mentioned several times. So, I am looking forward to some replies to your thread, so I can learn a bit more about the issue.

Thanks! I am not sure if I want to buy the new cam plate kit since this is not my main. Even with the kit, you still have to use the chain in the back of the cam plate, ive been told its a vast improvement but since this is a bar hopper.... maybe just changing out the tensioners will be good enough. Im not planning on riding the 04 across the country. Nice bike, something about the Deuce, I always loved em.
This is my new to me Deuce. Harley really does do a great job.......
Very nice - yours is in much better shape than mine! I am keeping mine as stripped down as I can. I bought a new tanks and fenders from another forum member who paints. Replacing the old tank and fenders this weekend, unless the OL has chores for me to do!
