Default Does a Heritage clean-up easy?

Hey Softies,
I may have an opportunity to trade my Fatboy for a Heritage basically straight across. Assuming power will be about even,I know the Heritage will be more comfortable. I like most of the trade off's, but I do see one potential "problem": how do you Heritage guys keep your rear ends clean[:@]? Are the leather bags easy to remove at bath time?
Are there any other downsides toan FLSTC's?

Thanks!

Windshield is a quick disconect. Bags have 3 nuts on each side (two under the front flap and oneon the side arm support).Takes just a minute to remove everything to wash the bike. They sell quick disconect kits for the bags but since I only remove them to wash my bike it's no big deal.

Yep, what Dave said. Bags/Windshield are easy to remove as well as the rider seat, passenger seat and quick release sissybar. I enjoy cleaning my ride. Great time for beer. Hell, anytimes a great timefor beer!

Funny you should be talking abouttrading. When I went to the Dealer after contemplating my first Harley...I "knew" I wanted a FatBoy. But then there was the Heritage Classic sitting right beside it - I'd never considered anything but the FatBoy - for years. But then when I saw what I would eventually end up with - a FatBoy with a windshield and saddlebags, the choice was fairly simple.

The engines and frames are the same. I'm not aware of any downsides unless it's a 2007 - those problems are well-documented here with the search button, but basically you need a Stage 1 and synthetic oils to correct the heat problem. And there are a lot of 2007's that have an ugly 5th gear chatter; a "normal" problem according to HD, but very annoying nevertheless.

I have an '07 Fatboy and the Heritage is an '06 (I'd hate to give up the TC96, but the Heritage has at least a stage one kit). I went through the same thing. If I'd spent $800 more for the Heritage initially I could have saved three or four timeswhat it's costto "upgrade" my FB for travel![:@]

No man, stay with the Fatboy. It's hard to keep clean....

I'm sure the solid wheels are easier to clean than spokes

Yeah, spokes look great, but cleaning them must be a bitch.

I spoke to someone a few months ago and he changed his wheels out partly due to all the cleaning that spokes involve. ....... Little radical, but I can see his point.

I love the looks of spokes though, you just can't beat the looks of a clean spoke wheel.

I thought the spokes would be a biXXX as well. They're really not that bad and well worth the effort cause they sure look good cleaned up.

If I don't get caught in the rain, which I make every effort not to, I'll hit just the wheels with soap and water every couple of weeks just to keep them shiney.

I went in to buy the fatboy as well.......then the salesperson pointed out that with the extras I wanted, the heritage was more in line with my thoughts. Never looked back. Cleaning is easy, bags are not a problem.....simple removal. Yeah, it takes a minute or two, but man they look nice when your all done. Spokes are no big deal....soap and water and your rewarded with a great look.
Good luck with your decision.
