Softail Deluxe Clicking noise

Hi all, I am a newbie here and have a problem with my deluxe. It has been sitting over winter in my garage. I tried to start it and just get a click with no cranking. I thought it was the battery so I put it on charge. Tried again and just got the click with no crank. Mmm- must be the battery I thought, so I hooked up a new car battery and I got a very fast clicking sound. I think the clicking is coming from behind the derby cover but I might be wrong. It’s a 2013 1690.
Any ideas would be much appreciated.

It's either a bad ground, trace wires and check, or Starter solenoid is stuck, you can try tapping it with a hammer, if that don't work then the starter has to be removed, and cleaned or replaced.

You had enough length of battery cable under the seat to reach the terminals of a car battery? I would like to see a pic of that

There are things now that have crocodile clips at each end so you can connect to the battery. I think they are called JUMP LEADS have you ever heard of these.

Battery is toast.

Mine did exactly the same thing. New battery....all good.

If it can't be fixed with a hammer - Yup it's an electrical problem.
