Default broken chaincase drain plug

So here is an update on my 07 FLSTC broken primary drain plug saga. It seems that if you make a left turn and hit a dip in the road just right you will bust the drain plug out of the inter primary cover. Look at it… it can happen. It will unfortunately take a piece of the cover with it. To be clear I also have a 03 Sportster 1200C and I still have not gotten use to the reduced lean angle. So instead of removing the inside cover and welding it over and drilling and tap it, I decided to let the dealer replace it. Well, up front, the service department said it would be two weeks and be about 2 hours labor at $70 an hour. I had looked in the catalog that the chrome cover was $269 and I thought the black one would be cheaper. I told them to just put on the black one but did not get a price. I decided to get a stage 1 with Rush 2" slip-ons while it was in the shop. Well I picked up the scooter yesterday and believe it or not the black cover is $100 more than the chrome one and the labor was 3 hours. So after not getting much relief from the service manager, he did cut the cover price down to $299; I talked to Mike the owner. He worked with me and cut another $100 of the bill so the primary cover repair was $453 and the stage 1 labor was $98. The Rush 2" and the SE AC were about $450. So I spent about a grand that I was going to spend on some real pipes and stage 1. I did get a stage 1 and the Rush slip-ons that do make for a much nicer ride. I am not to disappointed in the turn out (considering how pissed I was when it broke). Thanks mainly to the owner’s intervention, but remember he just got $ 19,000 a few months ago and another grand yesterday so he’s not hurting and it did take two weeks. Just watch for those sharp left turns with bumps and go for the chrome cover if it needs to be replaced. My wife and I road about 100 miles last nite and it was beautiful, especially after riding the sporty for two weeks. I have had two friends pass away this week and all this seems to be so inconsequential in the grand scheme of life. I tried to add a pic, hope it worked.
David
