Default Harley FXSTS Risers

I have a 1994 Harley FXSTS and want to change the stock risers. What is the best way to get away from the stock type riser studs? Adapter plate? Any advice would be greatly appreciated also pics of bikes if anyone has done this successfully. As is common with stock risers I have two of the Allen bolts stripped out and do not want to use the helicoil method.

As you are aware, the springer riser spacing is 4.75", and most other Harleys have a riser spacing of 3.5", which leaves very limited choices for a springer....

There are adapter plates available that bolt to the springer 4.74" riser studs, but leave holes so you can use the more prevalent 3.5" risers, bars and riser caps. I have never used them on my Springer ( I like my OEM bars & risers) but I have read that some who use them don't like the look...

You can still get the OEM risers online from one of the HD online parts suppliers (#56540-88) for like $60ea, and the top clamps (#56538-88) for like $54ea... not cheap, but you'd avoid a helicoil....

Good luck with your repair...

I have the adapter plate and a set of drag bars on my 97 FXSTS look ok to me but plan on changing bars ,I think . just bought it and exploring changing to a different set of bars.

Default FXSTS Riser Studs

Does anyone have any experience using the FXSTS 1/2 x 13 Riser Stud Kit from VTwin Part No: 37-0864? I have seen this mentioned in some very old posts and the item seems next to impossible to find which leads me to believe that maybe it was discontinued maybe for safety issues. I did find a place that may have them just waiting to hear back from them.
