I just came ome with a 01 Heritage Softail Classic.I'm 6' tall and I'm looking right through the top of the windshield.I measured it from the headlight cut-out and its 20'.It's really distracting.Plus the stock seat is so thick it makes me sit higher than I should.ANyone else have this problem?I had a Mustang on my FLH and sat lower to the ground.Help??
The windshield is very easy to shorten if you choose to do that. There are plenty of posts to search. Personally I like mine quite low so that I look well over it, even cars/road a couple lengths ahead are seen over it in traffic.I did mine with metal cutting blade in jigsaw, slowly along marked line, taped to prevent scatches, file edges and finish them with sandpaper. Helps to have helper to minime flutter of the windshield while cutting. I clamped mine in vise padded with a soft towel. Easy and low $ for sure. Worse case is you will scew up existing size and need to buy a replacement ...which is where you are headed anyway by the sound of it. John
I just picked up my C&C seats (Solo and Sport Tour) today, and they are awesome! They dropped me quite a bit lower, and hasgreat back support.I highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for a new seat.
I also have the low detachable windshield, and it was a bit short for me at 6'2" with the stock seat. I can't wait to get a chance to ride tomorrow and see how it lines up now that the seats are lower.
