keeps running after shut down

1999 evo carbed fat boy, after a long ride sometimes it acts like it wants to keep running for a little bit, you know how you have heard a car do sometimes, I don't know why cause the bike run great, any ideas? it don't do it all the time just once in a while.

Do you get any spark knock when accelerating?

no don't really hear any spark knock, I know cam was upgraded a long time ago, I run a mid range gas in it. I wondered if I should just go up to best gas? and like I said this thing run awsome

I would run 91 octane or better if available, just my 2 cents.

Idle may be up to high. Turn it down some and see if it helps.

I'd try the higher octane gas first and foremost. My uncle and I were out on a ride, me on mine, his is a 99 heritage Springer. We misread the pumps (just weren't paying attention close enough, stupid on our part) and he had the same issue in addition to a pop or two.
