All that chatter aside, I've been mulling over the expense of buying new controls in an attempt to correct my problem. I have ordered a replacement starter relay for 10% the cost of the controls to see if that's the cause of my "short circuit" which isn't a short circuit hopfully but just a mechanical contact staying closed "completing" a circuit when it isn't supposed to be completed since I'm NOT ordering it to be completed via a closing of a switch in turn energizing a coil which closes a set of contacts all of which sends current to the starter solenoid which energizes another coil which closes its contacts sending current to the starter motor windings generating a magnetic field causing the armature to turn...yadda yada the engine starts OR in my case keeps trying to start when in netural or clutch in even though it's started already.
Simply, I believe its either of the two ( starter switch HD Part #: 70239-07 or starter relay part #: 31522-00C ) unless the wires are truly shorted together under the tank. SHORT story hahaha... I've got to laugh since I'm rideless right now. Nice weather demands two wheels since I'm old now, any weather when I was a kid...
Thanks for the laughs, Bob
