RE: Difference between 1999 and 2000 Fatboy Wheels
IIRC, the axles & bearings are different. Larger axles? on the newer means the axle wouldn't fit your forks. Might be possible to get bearings with smaller inner races to fit your axle.
RE: Difference between 1999 and 2000 Fatboy Wheels
i have a 1999 fatty and still have the stock disc rims with tires sittiing in my basement....where are you located?
let me know if your interested..i can take pics...tires are decent...but rims look great they are brushed NOT chromed..
RE: Difference between 1999 and 2000 Fatboy Wheels
WRONG!
The axles are the same on both the 1999 & 2000. The difference is in the bearings and the raised rotor center. The 2000 rotors have a larger center hole. Because of the sealed bearings the 2000 wheels use a different length spacer. The 1999 and down wheels have bearings, seals and outside washer.
You can put a 1999 wheel on a 2000 model by using the earlier spacers and the 2000 rotor. However, in order to put a 1999 wheel on the 2000 model you would have to make the center hole on the rotor larger and use different spacers. You will also have to modify the rear pulley to fit on the later wheel.
Bottom line is that is is easier to find a set of correct year wheels on ebay.
RE: Difference between 1999 and 2000 Fatboy Wheels
This brings an interesting subject.
Also I think there is a difference in the 03 and later rear tires verses earlier 00 and later?
Reason I ask is you see a lot of chrome exchange fatty wheels out there and I'm not even so sure they know there's a difference.
Ah if I just had a parts manual infront of me, I could just look 'er up.
RE: Difference between 1999 and 2000 Fatboy Wheels
