Was out riding around almost all day yesterday visiting family, on my last little run before heading home, I lose all power!! I pull over to check it out, all the lights are good but I notice the bike isn't sensing the key fob FOB in my pocket. My neighbor comes and we get the bike home, pop off the seat to check it out and apparently the rear tire eats up the underliner and my ECM and my power commander III fall out!!!! Once i realized what happened, I went back to where I lost power and sure enough there they were in the middle of the street. So I reconnect everything and it still will not start, i'm assuming the PCIII is toast, can I just reconnect the ECM to see if its ok? What options do I have for a tuner? Can I replace the liner?
You need to figure out why the rear tire ate through the underliner (called a splash guard)... that IS NOT NORMAL..... did you change shocks and lower the bike a bunch? Whatever happened to cause the rear wheel to eat the fender liner, needs to be corrected before the fix or you'll just be back here again...
First glance it looks like several wires were damaged. They should all be identified and fixed.
You can replace that rear splash guard. The one for my '03 Heritage (#60363-00B) costs about $15 via an online HD discount vendor. They attach with 2 or 3 screws, I forget...
Is the main plug, in the harness, to the ECM in good shape? It looks good in the pics.
If that bottom pic is your ECM, the plug area looks pretty rough/damaged. If it's just dielectric grease and dirt, clean it up with a good electrical contact cleaner and see if it's actually damaged. If actually damaged, I wouldn't go through the trouble of fixing/replacing the plug only to find the ECM got damaged from hitting the road or whatever else it was subjected to before it fell off.... I would get a new ECM. If not actually damaged, plug it in and give it a try......
You don't say the year/model/mods.....If all gets checked/fixed, and you get all the wires/ECM reconnected, you can start your bike without the PCIII, if you only have a STAGE I, but you'll be lean. I wouldn't ride it much in that condition... If you have cams or other mods, I would get a matching tune/tuner before running it. I don't like piggy-back tuning devices. I would suggest a flash tuner like a PowerVision... I have one licensed for all three of my bikes and three really good friend's bikes... It's a great tuner...!
Good luck with the fix, please post the final resolution to both the fix and the initial cause.....
