I have a 2012 Heritage. 4 days ago I was out riding and had no problems with my bike. Yesterday I went out for a ride and this time there were problems. When the bike first starts up it runs & idles perfect, but once the bike gets hot, it won't idle at all. Still runs great when you are riding but once you come to a stop and let off the gas it winds down and dies. Starts right back up & runs great, just won't idle. Have tried everything but can't figure it out. My wife did find what looks like a vacuum cap laying in the drive where the bike was at 4 days ago. Checked the two that are on the intake behind the air cleaner & they are there and ok. So have no idea if it's off the bike or from something else. Any idea's?
You say that you have tried everything, have you cleaned your IAC?
Yes I have cleaned it. Like I said I have tried everything that I can think of. No codes showing, I am at a loss. May have to break down and take in to the HD dealeraa
There is one on throttle body used on CA bike as a return for carbon canaster. Mine fell off from heat. If that is off. Get the correct one from Harley or a gas hose and plug it.

Last week I was riding on a 90 degree day and got into some slow traffic, multiple stop lights etc. Suddenly my 2007 FLSTF was idling around 1200 RPM, never did that before. I stopped for gas but when I re-started it I still had that high idle. Arrived at my destination and a couple hours later I started the bike and still had the high idle. Now my wife's '99 BMW Z3 occasionally goes into limp mode for some reason and won't rev above 1000 RPM; the cure is to turn the ignition on but don't start the engine, press the throttle to the floor and back 3 or 4 times and turn the ignition off. Then start the engine and all is back to normal. So I decided to try that with my Fatboy. Ignition on, exercise the throttle a few times, turn the ignition off and then turn it on and start the bike. Back to normal idle and it has not happened again. Don't know if this is a proper solution but it worked for me.
Had nearly same symptoms, rode 60 miles, stopped for lunch, started up to leave after couple hours (engine cool) didn't want to run at idle rough startup ran fine above 1200 but would die if let completely off throttle. No code. Next morning pulled IAC valve and saw shaft had unthreaded from internal actuator. Tried to rethread but the threads were worn and after turning key on and off to cycle through valves functions it came out again. Ordered new from Ronnie's 40. Plus freight. It won't kick code out because actuator says it's working, which it is, but threaded shaft that connects to tapered valve is not moving to allow air past butterfly, which opens at around 1200 rpm.with throttle twist allowing sufficient air into body. Kind of a pain to get at torx screws (2) holding frame that holds unit to body, without lifting tank up some. Same frame is what hold throttle cables to body, didn't have to remove cables, just tilted over some to get IAC valve out. Be aware of o ring that seals IAC to body. Hope this helps.
