I'm removing the umbrella valves and rockers so I can replace the oil pump in my 2000 Heritage Twin-Cam 88. I can't figure out how to get the rear cylinder left side umbrella valve assembly bolt to clear the frame so I can remove the assembly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
If you go to the new stamped style breathers you MUST use shorter bolts or you will crack the head. The bolts come with the breathers if buy the kit, ask for them separately if you buy the breathers alone. In any case be SURE to blow the oil out of the breather bolt holes and support bolt holes on assembly, again cracked heads can be the result if you skip this step!

Got it out by taking the four bolts out of the rocker support and pulling the Umbrella Valve assembly, rockers and rocker support altogether. Will remember to get the oil out of the holes before going back on.

As already mentioned.... if you get the newer style stamped steel breather assemblies, they come with shorter screws and are easier to assemble/remove....

Picked up the SE cam support plate/oil pump kit and associated gasket sets yesterday. Pressed the new bearings in the support plate last night and having the cams pressed in this morning. The kit came with the new stamped umbrella valves and bolts.
